What is Resume Title?
What is Resume Title? When it comes to writing a resume, one of the most important things to remember is what is resume title. Your resume should be optimized with a catchy title that will get your attention and make it easy for a potential employer to glance over your profile. By understanding what is resume title, you will be able to create a good, professional resume that will land you interviews and ultimately employment. The first and most important part of a resume is your name. It is the name that is used in correspondence as a form of identification and must stand out in a crowd. It will also become your new career title after you apply for a job. So, you have to ensure that your title is distinctive enough that your potential employer will remember you and will want to contact you when they need your services. The next step is to find out whether you are in the running for a job. You can do this by requesting an interview call or by attending one yourself. If you are serious ab out your career, you will want to at least schedule an interview to introduce yourself and to discuss what position you are seeking. Then you can go on to the next step: what is resume title. Name your resume in such a way that makes it easy for the interviewer to read.Make sure that you cover your resume with an appropriate cover letter. A simple one-line statement like 'I am applying for a job...' is sufficient. However, it is better to follow up with a few sentences that relate to the position you are applying for. To make it easier, you can use bullet points to provide more detailed information about your past experience.Use a couple of sentences to state why you would be a good fit for the position you are seeking and why your potential employer should hire you. This is the basic principle of your resume and is best shown with examples and not theory. If you are uncertain about your abilities, consider consulting a professional. It is usually best to express what you know in mo re than one sentence.A professionally written resume is normally done with what is resume title. Resumes should be presented in a way that shows what you have to offer the employer. Resumes also serve to attract the attention of potential employers. There are some tricks to make it look more professional. It is best to look at your resume first before you present it to the hiring manager.First, look at your resume and think about what it is about and how you can improve it. Then, put the paper down and ask for feedback from a friend or even your hiring manager. If you are offered an interview, do not hesitate to ask for references. You can summarize your qualifications by stating what you have done for your potential employer to prove that you have done your job well. This is the most effective way to put your job search into perspective. Be sure to include your work history with the employer so they know exactly where you stand.

From Stilettos to Sweatpants and Back
From Stilettos to Sweatpants and Back A note from Nicole: I asked my friend, Sarah Zengerle, to share her experience as a new Mom. Like many women, Sarah had to decide whether or not to pay for full time child care (a salary of its own in the city of Chicago) or to turn in her business suit to raise her daughter at home instead. For those of you who are faced with this huge decision (or fear it for one day in the future!), I think Sarahs story will resonate with you. Theres no doubt that being a Mom is the most rewarding -and the toughest- job on earth. Yet at some point, many women feel disconnected with the outside world and miss the pace, challenges, financial rewards and social stimulation of having a job title outside of being a Mom. Every woman deserves to fulfill her own needs and it is my belief that when they do, they are also better Mothers. Sarahs story shows that it is entirely possible to have the best of both worlds. Enjoy! -Nicole By, Sarah Zengerle After having my daughter Lily last July, I faced the tough decision many new moms face: whether to go back to my corporate career and fork away Chicagoâs standard $2500/month for a full-time nanny/daycare, or trade in my stilettos for sweat pants as a Stay-At-Home Mom. At this point I had been working in TV Advertising Sales for 6 years, and while I enjoyed my job and the salary that came with it, I couldnât see myself leaving Lily for 10 hours a day. I was looking forward to days full of playdates, and willing to adjust my lifestyle (from Nordstrom to Old Navy) to make the single-income household work. I quickly realized that being a Stay-At-Home Mom really is the hardest job in the world, and the luxuries of client lunches, manicures and showering daily were a distant memory. After 8 months of focusing every bit of my energy on the baby, I realized I had started to lose my spark. Although I still wanted to be at home with Lily and watch her grow, I also needed something to satisfy my own wants and goals. It was around that trying time that I was first introduced to Stella Dot, a social selling jewelry company. I immediately discounted the opportunity. I had never been an at-home party girl myself, and had bad experiences in the past with a certain at-home companys girls stalking me on Michigan Avenue. But after a very short time (say 24 hours of watching the Stella Dot âOur Storyâ video on replay), I realized how great the opportunity was with this company. The idea of being an independent business owner, making your own hours and no glass ceilings was very tempting. Not to mention the product and quality is gorgeous- and I fell in love with the jewelry line. In less than 90 days as an Independent Stylist, Iâve promoted to Senior Stylist (on my way to Star) and now have a team of 6 girls who are amazing friends in Chicago. Ive never had more fun or been so passionate about anything in my life! Stella Dot gives me an excuse to get glammed up, get together with fun women for a glass of wine and do a little shopping! Getting paid for it is just the icing on the cake. It feels great to bring in a paycheck while doing what I love and spending the majority of my time with my family! Not only do I love hosting private trunk shows, but the coaching aspect of the business is very rewarding. Helping others create their own business and successes is my favorite part. I have girls on my team with full-time jobs doing Stella Dot as a hobby or fun gig, and girls trying to make six figures. As for me, I still wear my sweatpants during the day, I still have my standing playdates during the week, but 1-2 nights a week I put on my Stella Dot jewels and have a girls night out! If you love fashion and are interested in working from home and/or owning your own business, I have a so-called âjobâ for you! Contact me about becoming an Independent Stylist and join my team: [emailprotected]! Another note from Nicole: Shoot! I just watched the Stella and Dot story video and this sounds incredible! Im all pumped up just hearing about all of these women finding balance, helping other women succeed and being so passionate about what they do. I may need to chat with Sarah about this myself!

Top 9 Ways to Use LinkedIn to Find Your Dream Job
Top 9 Ways to Use LinkedIn to Find Your Dream Job Top 9 Ways to Use LinkedIn to Find Your Dream Job Social media has grown to now play a big part in looking for a job and finding the best opportunities for career advancement. Without doubt, the most important site for this purpose is LinkedIn, often affectionately described as âFacebook for businessâ. This is no surprise as there can be up to 6.5 million jobs advertised on LinkedIn at any given time. With 94% of recruiters actively using LinkedIn to vet potential job candidates, it is no wonder that anyone who is serious about finding a job or changing their career path needs to make sure their profile is up to scratch. Building your profile on LinkedIn and making contacts can be an ideal way to find the best route to your dream job. But what are the tips to make the most of the site? We have listed some helpful tips for you: Have a winning profileWhile your profile on Facebook or Twitter are important to tell the world who you are, your profile on LinkedIn is essential if you want to attract potential new employers. You need to have a winning profile that tells potential employers all the relevant information they need and you must make it a priority to keep it updated, especially when completing training courses or gaining new qualifications or work experience. Adding previous experience and qualifications can make you up to 12 times more likely to attract an employer to your profile, or to help gain their attention when you approach them about possible employment.Include the right skillsWhile you might have an excellent handicap at golf or be a brilliant karaoke singer, these skills arenât the ones you want to highlight on your LinkedIn profile â" leave that stuff for your Facebook account. If you plan to stay in the industry you are already working in, then list the skills you have that are relevant to it. If you want to move to another sector, then look at adverts and job description for these positions. Find the skills you have that closely match what these employers are looking for in a candid ate and make sure these are placed prominently on your profile.Donât make it blandBoring is as boring does! That said, donât fall into the trap of making your profile too wild and out-there or too generic and similar to others in the same field. You want your personality to come through so make sure you allow for that when constructing the key elements of your profile. Those golf scores or singing skills can feature in the mix, just not at the top of the list. You can also arrange your profile to a style of layout that you like, highlighting your best features or experience.Be easy to findLetting an employer come and find you is never a bad idea â" it means you have caught their attention without saying a word. Therefore, key to achieving this is to make sure you are easy to find on LinkedIn so that potential employers or recruiters can easily spot you. One simple way to do this is to ensure your profile contains the right keyword for the industry and job you do, or the job you want to do. Try to look at how you would find someone on the site if you were a prospective employer looking for a new employee, then apply that logic to your own profile so that people can find you.Follow and make connectionsFollowing companies that you would love to work for or who operate in your desired industry will give you great insight into that area as well as meaning you can catch onto vacancies quickly. Over 3 million companies have profiles in LinkedIn and they update them regularly so it can be a great source of information for you, especially when looking to change your career path. You might even be able to make connections with people inside the company that you would like to work for, though be very wary of just sending requests randomly.Be a detectiveFollowing these companies allows you to become a bit of a detective as well, should you get the chance to interview for a position with any of them. Look at the company but also the relevant people within it, view the ir profile and see if you can spot common ground, shared experience or interests or even just the latest news about the company. Donât come across like a stalker, but doing some light research never hurts.Build your networkBuilding a network on LinkedIn is essential to your success so make use of friends, family and work colleagues to help do this. Also make use of the LinkedIn dedicated Connected app that helps you find people to connect with, maintain your connections and build relationships that may help you win that dream job sometime in the future. Try the Job Seeker facilityShowing you are a motivated, determined and a considered job seeker can really help to put you on the candidate list for some employers. LinkedIn offer a service called Job Seeker that comes with a free 30-day trial and then is £12.95 a month afterwards. It adds a badge to your profile that shows you are looking for a job as well as giving you some extra information about who is viewing your profile. It sets you apart from others on the hunt for their dream job and shows you are willing to spend time and money to find the right vacancy.Publish on the siteEvery bit of experience we get in our career teaches us something and everything we do creates knowledge that we can pass on to others, so boost your profile by sharing your knowledge through LinkedIn. Publish articles on the website, build up your credibility on your best topics and impress potential employers in yet another way. previous article Crafty and Casual â" A Smart Resume Template for Free next article The Working Woman â" Resume Template Freebie for Ladies you might also likeThe Best Way to Explain Your Sabbatical To a New Employer

Are You a Jack of All Trades, or Master of One - CareerEnlightenment.com
The conclusion: officers were TWICE as likely to attain the important promotion when they achieved just one standard deviation more specialization than their counterparts. It suggests that over time, and in aggregate, employees with more specialized experience were seen as more capable than other candidates with more generalized experience. Itâs an important and data-driven example of a global trend in the economics of seeking employment.Familiarity is common. Expertise is rare. The idea of specialization as a desirable â" and hireable â" trait is nothing new. Naturally, companies will want to hire the best possible candidate for a job. It stands to reason (with support from the statistical analysis of some smart folks out of Stanford) that being a beacon of knowledge in a given field helps you stand out to employersWhen applying and interviewing for a job, you find yourself face-to-face with the business end of an important economic principle: opportunity cost. Basically, itâ s the trade-off the company makes by hiring you instead of the next candidate in line. Theyâre forgoing the potential value of the other employee by hiring you, so youâre on a mission to make it obviously worth their while.Ultimately, over-generalizing your experience minimizes the difference between your skills and the other candidatesâ. It doesnât strongly make the case that they canât afford to pass you up.Unlocking your expertiseTailor your resume to emphasize how youâre exactly what theyâre looking for. Join industry associations. Get accredited in your specialty. Show off awards you may have won for your work or services. Write a guest blog post; start your own blog. Tailor your resume (did we say that twice?). Do whatever you can possibly to do to prove your engagement with your area of expertise.Youâre specialized. Unique. Worth paying well. Let them know youâre a candidate they canât afford to pass by.Put this advice into action with Resunate, a free web tool that allows you to screen your resume and automatically focus it for any job. 8 Weekend Habits of Successful People - Career Advice Blog for Millennials
8 Weekend Habits of Successful People - Career Advice Blog for Millennials I dont know about you, but a successful weekend to me means getting out of bed before ten and making sure all of the laundry is done and the house is clean before heading out for the night. Thats my goal, and Im pretty darn happy if I accomplish it. To people like Mark Zuckerberg and Benjamin Franklin, though, success isnt just a goal to achieve. Its something they weave into their daily lives â" whether its deciding how to close a deal on a Monday, or reflecting on how to close a week on a Friday. Whereas most people, myself included, look forward to a weekend of hanging out and catching up on chores, successful people have one or more of the following, more productive weekend habits: Keep a Regular Weekday Routine When you dont have work on a Saturday morning, its tempting to sleep in. Actually, you might want to keep your regular hours instead. According to Buffer co-founder and CEO Joel Gascoigne, he made it a point not to wake up an hour later than he does on weekdays. That is, if youre awake by 5 AM from Monday to Friday, you should be up by 6 AM on a Saturday. Otherwise, your biological clock will get thrown out of whack, and youll find yourself groggy on days when you should be awake and alert. Plan Weekends Did you know planning your weekends can make you happier? In his book Stumbling on Happiness, Harvard psychologist Daniel Gilbert writes: â¦the greatest achievement of the human brain is its ability to imagine objects and episodes that do not exist in the realm of the real. If you have something concrete to look forward to on the weekend (a night out with friends, a 5-hour marathon of your favorite TV show), it can do wonders for your mood. Not sure what to do with your weekend, exactly? Dont fret. Take a leaf out of Benjamin Franklins book, and create a daily schedule based on 13 rules to live by. Ask yourself What good things can I do today? at the start of every day, and What good things have I done today? at the end. Steve Jobs had a similar routine: Every morning for 33 years, he looked in the mirror and reflected on the question: If today were the last day of my life, would I want to do what I am about to do today? Do Something Different Unsurprisingly, a lot of successful people have quirky habits. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, for instance, only eats meat from animals he hunts himself. Likewise, Warren Buffett plays the ukulele, Sergey Brin engages in daredevil sports every chance he gets, and Sandy Lerner collects rare books, as well as jousting costumes and swords! Of course, your own hobbies dont need to be as out-of-this-world as theirs. If writing, painting, drawing, designing or what-have-you makes you happy, and allows you to blow off some steam, thats more than enough. Be Physically Active You might have heard about how sitting is the new silent killer. If you spend most of your weekdays in a chair, you raise your risk of developing life-threatening illnesses, such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer. Take up a sport a la Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, who plays tennis every morning before she goes to work at 8 AM. Or, join your athletic friends when they run their marathons. Trust me; theyll be happy to have something to talk about other than work-related issues. Take Stock of Finances It might sound like a Scrooge-like thing to do, but yes: Successful people take time out to see how theyre doing, finances-wise. At least, thats what Thomas Stanley and William Danko found out, when they were researching their book The Millionaire Next Door. They found that wealthy people were more likely to keep track of their cash inflows and outflows, so they have a better grip on their spending and are less likely to buy things they dont need. That doesnt mean you shouldnt indulge yourself every now and then. Saving money is a lot like dieting: If you quit junk food (impulse buys) cold turkey, its pretty likely youll go back to your old habits. Its better to cut these out gradually, so youll get used to not having them in your life at all. Prepare for the Week Ahead To say that Jack Dorsey has a hectic life is an understatement. The Twitter founder and Square CEO logs in an incredible 16 hours per day, since he has to divide his time between the two companies he manages. He can keep this up because he takes his Saturdays off for a hike, and spends his Sundays on reflections, feedback, strategy and getting ready for the rest of the week. Thirty minutes before you sleep on a Sunday night, write your To-Do list for the week. Regardless of how you structure that list, it should give you a good picture of what to expect from the upcoming days. That way, if you need to make last-minute adjustments to your schedule for any reason, you can do it all without a sweat. Take a Break Youve already been working your butt off from Monday to Friday. Why on Earth would you want to work some more on the two days you should be resting? As weve mentioned earlier, even workaholics like Jack Dorsey need downtime every now and then. The same goes for Renault and Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn, who doesnt bring his work home and makes time for his family on the weekends. Its better to take frequent breaks and spread out your energy levels evenly, than force yourself to work non-stop until you run yourself to the ground. Stay Happy Most people think success leads to happiness. However, according to happiness expert Shawn Achor, its the other way around. In his book The Happiness Advantage, Achor argues that successful people are where they are because they allowed themselves to be happy. So think of the things youre grateful for in your life, and remind yourself of them when you feel down or upset. Keep in mind that these habits, by themselves, wont make you successful. Yes, they can get you into the right mindset, and theyll inject a little more energy into your body where theres none. At the end of the day, though, its what you do with these two thatll make the difference. Have a clear picture of where you want to be, and use these habits to help you get there.
